Our Terror Bird plush is the perfect gift for the prehistoric collector! This plush toy is perfect for natural history museums, fossil and natural science attractions, and dinosaur lovers. Includes an educational hang tag explaining the animal's unique characteristics that make it a truly predatory "Terror" bird.
Phorusrhacids, colloquially known as terror birds, are an extinct clade of large carnivorous flightless birds that were one of the largest species of apex predators in South America during the Cenozoic era.
The Terror Bird, (Phorusrhacidae) scientific name Titanis Walleri, was a huge bird, larger than an African ostrich. It had very long legs and a large, heavy head. This bird balanced on its toes rather than the flats of its feet, which gave it a longer stride and allowed it to cover more ground with each step and gave it running speeds of up to 40 mph! Some paleontologists believe that its dramatically reduced wings may even have sported a number of small, movable claws.
